Drop the Fork

Thanksgiving Fork

Drop the fork? What? No, it's not that brutal, I promise...

I felt the need to share "drop the fork" wisdom with you because while some of us love the holidays, some of us also DREAD the holidays, amiright?

If you're one of the moms out there that dread the holidays because you are already grunting to your co-workers about adding "holiday weight" I'm here to tell YOU:

don't worry, because I'm sharing 2 simple things you will do to get you THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS without packing on The Freshman 15 all over again!

(My Freshman 15 was actually more like 20, all in the gut, and all from frozen mochaccinos from Common Grounds coffee shop in Waco, Texas! Baylor Bears πŸ™‚ Back when Baylor lost every football game, ha ha!)

But this is about YOU and the holiday season that is upon us!

I'm showing you how to get READY, how to STAY healthy and NOT hate yourself (don't ever hate yourself because of a number on a scale!)

AND EAT ALL YOU WANT

on Thanksgiving & Christmas!  NO. JOKE.

Do 2 Simple Things between now and Thanksgiving:

1. Drop the Fork

2. Wait For it

1. Drop The Fork

And stop putting food in your mouth. The End.

Simple, right? I told you it would be easy πŸ˜‰

Okay, of course I'm joking...so what do I mean?

"Drop the Fork" simply means after you take a bite of food, drop the fork.

LET IT GO, Elsa πŸ˜‰

Put the fork down and leave it on your plate while you chew your food.  Do NOT touch the utensil until AFTER you have completely finished eating that bite of food, ONLY then do you pick up your fork to get another bite. Have you heard of this little "secret" before?

Have you ever tried it?

You'll be surprised at how attached you are to having that fork in your hand, which makes you subconsciously think "it's time for another bite," even though you are still chewing! And this is what can cause you to over eat without even realizing it!

When you put more food into your mouth (even though you are still chewing the previous bite) you are sending food down to your stomach faster, which means you're not giving your stomach enough time to tell your brain it's full, so you unknowingly keep eating past your "satisfied" threshold, after you've eaten more than what was necessary.

And you know the feeling...you've over-eaten before...plenty of times! You ate a bunch, too fast (fork constantly in hand, putting more in your mouth before you were done with the previous bite) because you were probably "starving" and then your body felt bad afterwards.

I'm not shaming you, Friend...we ALL do it. (I've done it plenty of times!)

And it's not your fault. It's just an old habit. An unhealthy habit. But the good news about old habits is that ANY habit can be undone!

And by dropping the fork, you have a

guilt-free,

fool-proof way of pacing yourself that is effective and EASY.

Here's a True Story:

My dad lost 10 lbs off his belly just by dropping the fork.

He didn't do any extra exercises, no restrictive crazy diets, nothing different, he just dropped the fork after every bite of food, and he lost 10 lbs in time to fit into his tuxedo and walk me down the aisle πŸ™‚

Since then, I've always remembered this little secret and tried to do it when I was at my biggest, sleep deprived from newborns, and/or whatever excuse I had at the time.

At the very least, you can always "drop the fork."

2. Wait For It

I'm taking you Next Level. Just a little stretch from what you may be used to, but you'll be fine. This secret is so simple that it's hard for most Americans. That's why I called it "next level."

Are you ready? I believe you are, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this in the first place. I know you have the desire, now let's go next level...

Between now and Thanksgiving: NO more junk food.

*tough love in 3, 2, 1...*

No cookies, no Whataburger, no wings, no breakfast tacos, no eating out (restaurant food IS junk food), no Takis (okay that's me talking to myself now!), etc.

You will wait for it...You will wait for Thanksgiving. This is how you will be able to enjoy ALL YOU WANT on Thanksgiving!

And yes: drop the fork on Thanksgiving Day, but have everything you WANT! Turkey, cakes, cookies, heaping mounds of sides (I love marshmallow sweet potatoes!!) and more! Have it ALL!

I know what you're thinking now...

"but, Bryanna, what do I do about my co-workers? Everyone has been bringing crap to the office lately! Doughnuts, chocolates, and a Thanksgiving luncheon is underway!"  If you've never gone a week without saying "no thank you" to the office sweets, then I'd like to quote one of my favorite (old) movies Fools Rush In,

"Well, here's your big chance."

I know you can say "no, thank you." It's very polite. Another option? Just say "maybe later" when someone shows up with homemade, gooey chocolate chip cookies! And if you need to, do what my toddler says: wwwuuuunnnn!!

You will THANK yourself on Thanksgiving Day for dropping the fork and staying away from junk food between now and Thanksgiving! And then enjoy whatever you want, however much you want, with your family and friends. Be happy and thankful πŸ™‚

Cheers to the strongest, healthiest, leanest YOU yet!

This will be the foundation for your new healthy habits!
