Mommy Down Time

It's that time again...SCHEDULE time for YOURSELF!

I recently got back from a 5-night (you read that right, Mommy! FIIIVE nights!) trip to North Carolina with my husband and I went back to my kids and my job feeling

SO GOOD!

SO REFRESHED.

SO RELAXED!!

School has been in full swing, and you know the house doesn't let up, so if you haven't scheduled some time in for yourself you better do it quick before your time gets eaten up by

work,

kid's homework,

the microwave needs to be replaced,

another drawer needs fixing,

teeball games,

the forgotten piano lessons that "we need to start again," so you practice sporadically,

prayers groups (which are awesome but you usually can't change the day it's on),

birthday parties (fun, but not always at convenient times),

working over time...ay ay ay!

Did I mention endless laundry?

I know you give your all at work and at home to your family,

BECAUSE YOU'RE A KICKA$$ MOM

but you need some time for yourself!

Too many moms believe "sacrificing myself to the point of ruining my health = good mom."

And this is total crap!

Rest, down time, and fun time is need for overall health! It's just as Important as exercise!

So I want to encourage you to rest and have fun!

This "fun" and "rest" and "down" time can be anything you want it to be! You can:

spend time alone, hit the stores, get a massage, have a girls' night out (I'm sure other moms would love to join you!), have coffee with friends, date night, go on a retreat...

It can be ANYTHING and you don't have to spend a lot of money (but you can if you want to!)

So how can you make sure too much time doesn't go by without a little "me" time?

You schedule it in! Put it in your phone or write it on your calendar and stick to this date and time like any other appointment!

Yes, it's that serious! Otherwise, you will forever be "too busy" and a long time will go by and then one day you might explode on someone or burst into tears because you're feeling overwhelmed and drained from all of the plates you carry...

and that's

no fun

for no one!

Earlier this fall I waited too long to have a little "me" time, and when I actually had some down time you know what I did?

NOTHING!

And not in a good way...I was too drained to do anything! it was like I was sick because I felt physically tired! You and I are busy, working moms, so we don't even think about how busy we can be at times until we have rest time

and

then

we

crash!

No bueno!

Has this happened to you, too?

You are so focused on ACCOMPLISHING EVERYTHING that you can forget about yourself.

So be sure to schedule something that YOU want to do! You NEED to schedule it to make sure it happens!

Remember:

Sometimes badass mommies need a little R&R....

So what will you plan for yourself today? I'm going to a local brewery to hear my friend's band play 🙂

Drop a comment and let me know 🙂
